Rural Civic Addressing
The Rural Municipality of Hanover is implementing a Rural Civic Addressing
program in the summer of 2006. Starting in June, rural residents will see
signage placed beside their driveways with a five digit number that identifies
their residence.
When this number is stated along with the Road number, it becomes the civic
address for only that location in Hanover and is to be used when contacting
9-1-1 for police, fire or ambulance emergency services. Other benefits will be
to provide a clear location for utility, messenger/courier or other delivery
services that often require extensive direction to identify properties.
An example of the civic address should be stated as follows: 12345 Road 40
North or 56789 Road 25 East
