Water System Flushing Program
The RM of Hanover conducts regular water distribution system maintenance through watermain cleaning and hydrant flushing programs. These programs help maintain water quality, improve system performance, and ensure the continued reliability of the water system.
Residents are notified prior to the commencement of flushing activities through the RM's communication channels, including Facebook, Instagram, and the Community LED Board.
Flushing Schedule
Kleefeld - Every 2nd Wednesday and Thursday of the month
May through October/November (weather dependent and subject to winter freeze-up)
Grunthal - Every 3rd Wednesday and Thursday of the month
May through October/November (weather dependent and subject to winter freeze-up)
What to Expect
During the flushing process, water is pushed through the distribution system at a high velocity to remove sediment and mineral deposits that may have accumulated in the watermains. As a result, some residents may notice temporary water discoloration, typically appearing as a yellow or rusty tint caused by disturbed iron particles.
While the water may appear discoloured, it remains safe, treated, and suitable for normal use. If discoloration occurs, residents are encouraged to run a cold-water tap for several minutes until the water clears.
If the discoloration persists or if you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Utilities Department for assistance.
