In accordance with Section 48 of The Municipal Councils and School Boards Election Act, the Rural Municipality of Hanover held an election Wednesday, October 26, 2022.

Municipal Election Voting Locations

The Rural Municipality of Hanover offers several voting locations for the Wednesday, October 26, 2022 General Municipal Election.

All voting takes place 8:00am – 8:00pm.

Identification will be required before being allowed to vote – provide an official government issued document that contains the person’s name, address, and photograph; or at least two other documents that provide proof of identity satisfactory to the election official.

Election Worker Positions


The RM of Hanover requires temporary election workers for Election Day on Wednesday, October 26, 2022.

The role of election workers is to make it possible for electors to vote in an orderly fashion. Election workers primarily work at voting locations where residents go to vote. Various positions are available from Voting Official [responsible for the ballots]; Assistant Voting Official [responsible for voters list]; to Information Officer, who directs electors, to the appropriate table.

Please note that election workers are paid yet are not RM of Hanover employees.

Eligibility 

Election workers must:

  • be a Canadian citizen
  • be at least 16 years old on election day
  • agree to refrain from any partisan political activity during the term of employment

Requirements

Individuals interested in applying for election worker positions must be able to demonstrate the following core competencies:

  • Basic literacy skills (reading, writing, and comprehension)
  • Basic interpersonal skills, including the ability to exercise impartiality
  • Ability to learn quickly
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to follow directions and adhere to standards and safety measures
  • Ability to a work long day (at least 13 hours)
  • Successful applicants will be required to attend a training session to prepare them for their role.

Applicants must be available to work on Election Day on Wednesday, October 26, 2022.
